Thursday, 17th April 2025: Addressing the Real Issue, Not the Distraction!

Scripture Reading: John 18:22-23 (KJV)
“And when he had thus spoken, one of the officers which stood by struck Jesus with the palm of his hand, saying, Answerest thou the high priest so? Jesus answered him, If I have spoken evil, bear witness of the evil: but if well, why smitest thou me?”

Reflections: Jesus is struck by an officer after defending His response to the high priest. Rather than addressing the core issue—whether Jesus had spoken anything evil—the officer resorted to a physical act of aggression. Jesus, however, pointed out the flaw in the situation: If He had spoken wrongly, they should bring forth the evidence. But if His words were true, then there was no justification for the assault. This serves as a powerful lesson for us. Often, in life, people may resort to distractions or attacks rather than addressing the substantive issue. In legal and personal matters, it is crucial to focus on the truth of the matter rather than getting sidetracked by irrelevant or unjust actions. Jesus shows us the importance of confronting the core issue with integrity and clarity, even when others try to divert attention away from it.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, help me to stay focused on the truth and not be distracted by injustices or false accusations.

Confession: I will focus on truth and justice, addressing the real issues at hand with integrity, just as Jesus did. www.prediksiboladunia.com
