Scripture Reading: Ezra 9:2
For they have taken of their daughters for themselves, and for their sons: so that the holy seed have mingled themselves with the people of those lands: yea, the hand of the princes and rulers hath been chief in this trespass.
Reflections: God classified Israel as a holy seed. This meant that they couldn’t marry foreigners. At this time, they had come out of Babylonian captivity miraculously. It was time for them to live right, but the unfortunate happened. As they enjoyed their given freedom, they tended to care less about the covenant terms God had to establish with them. They, therefore, took their ‘holy seed’ mandate for granted and chose this time of all times to fraternise with their heathen neighbors sexually. This act of sin threatened the sudden liberty God had given to them. Ezra, the scribe and priest had to act swiftly. He led them to repent and to get back on track. In moments of your breakthroughs, don’t forget to continue walking in the light of God’s word. Unlike the people of Israel, do not turn any freedom God gives you into an opportunity to gratify your flesh ( Gal 5:13)
Prayer: Dear Lord, may I never turn any breakthrough you give me into an opportunity to satisfy the flesh.
Confession: I do not turn any freedom the Lord gives me into an opportunity to satisfy my flesh.
