Scripture Reading: Proverbs 16:32
“He who is slow to anger is better than the mighty, and he who rules his spirit than he who takes a city.”
Reflections: Anger is a natural human emotion, but uncontrolled anger can lead to destructive consequences. Proverbs 16:32 highlights the importance of self-control, comparing it to strength greater than a mighty warrior. True power lies not in physical might but in the ability to rule over one’s emotions, especially anger. When anger is unchecked, it can damage relationships, hinder spiritual growth, and lead to regretful actions. However, when controlled, it becomes a sign of wisdom, maturity, and strength. Jesus, our ultimate example, demonstrated remarkable self-control even in the face of injustice and provocation. Controlling anger requires relying on the Holy Spirit, pausing to seek God’s wisdom, and responding with humility and grace. By ruling our spirits and being slow to anger, we reflect Christ’s peace and bring glory to God.
Prayer: Lord, Help me to be slow to anger and to rule my spirit with Your wisdom and strength.
Confession: I am slow to anger and quick to forgive.
