Wednesday, 7th December 2016: You must love and actively look forward to the coming of the Lord Jesus!

Scripture Reading: 2 Tim 4:6-7
For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand.I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith. Now there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, shall give me at that Day; and not to me only, but also to all those who love His appearing.

Reflection: Paul announces to Timothy that those who ‘love the appearing of the Lord’ are those who will be positioned to live in readiness for eternity and for eternal rewards. ‘To love the appearing of the Lord’ basically means two things; not to loose sight of Jesus’s return and to actively wait for his return. This translates into pursuance of holiness (2 Peter 3:11-12), purification (1John 3:2-3); and denying ungodliness and worldly lusts (Titus 2:11-13). Thus keeping your memory alive to the return of Jesus Christ will enable you to actively prepare for that day. Just like Paul, it will serve as your motivation to ‘fight a good fight, finish the course and keep the faith’. You cannot afford to miss the flight into eternity when the trumpet sounds and the saints ( whether dead or alive) are transported to meet Christ in the air (1 Cor 15:52). For sure, you must love and actively look forward to the coming of the Lord Jesus!.

Prayer: Oh Lord, help me to actively love and look forward to your coming.

Confession: I won’t ever loose sight of the coming of the Lord. It is my motivational factor to fight a good fight, finish my course and keep the faith.
