Scripture Reading: Heb 13:7
Remember them which have the rule over you, who have spoken unto you the word of God: whose faith follow, considering the end of their conversation.
Reflections: How often you observe the character and the way of life of any Pastor you submit to is critical to the development of your faith. The writer of Hebrews makes this clear without mincing words at all. He advises that much as you have to keep in mind those who have pastoral oversight over your life and imitate their faith, you must of necessity ‘consider the end of their conversation’, The word ‘conversation’ in Hebrew is ‘anastrophē’ which means behavior. You are therefore, required to keenly observe their behavior and the outcome of their way of life, before you allow your faith to be like theirs. This is why Paul said he should be imitated just as he imitates Christ (1 Cor 11:1). Ultimately therefore, your life should be influenced only by the positive outcomes of the lifestyle of your spiritual leader.
Prayer: Dear Lord, help me to examine and imitate only the exemplary character exhibited by my spiritual leader.
Confession: I allow my life to be influenced only by the positive lifestyle of my spiritual leader.
