Wednesday, 4th October 2017: Your reverence for God will help you to resist sin!

Scripture Reading: Genesis 39:9
There is none greater in this house than I; neither hath he kept back any thing from me but thee, because thou art his wife: how then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?

Reflections: Separated from his family and his homeland, he served as a slave in the house of a high ranking royal official in the land of Egypt. The mistress of the house decided to seduce him into having a sexual relationship with her. However, much as she tried, he will not bulge. She soon discovered the reason why. Joseph so feared God and would not take any of His commandments for granted. He will simply not sin against God even though there was no one watching him. Your ability to still stand for God in moments of difficulties and in environments where there are no checks on your spiritual life will confirm that you truly fear Him. Like Joseph, show that you fear God wherever you find yourself! To fear God is to revere him. Your reverence for God will help you to resist sin.

Prayer: Dear Lord, help me to love and revere you.

Confession: I love and revere God. I resist sinning against Him.
