Scripture Reading:Luke 2:16
And they came with haste, and found Mary, and Joseph, and the babe lying in a manger
Reflections: Following the angel’s instructions, the shepherds discovered the infant Jesus in a manger—a container usually used to feed livestock. Jesus’s use of a manger as a cot must have meant something important. Jesus is both a lamb and a shepherd, representing the purpose of his birth. He was crucified as a lamb to redeem us from sin (John 1:29) and he feeds, shelters, and protects us as a shepherd with his word (John 10:11). His birth in a manger therefore draws attention to his life’s purpose. Like baby Jesus, the reality is that you were born to serve a specific purpose. Seek to discover and live it.
Prayer: Dear Lord help me walk in response to my purpose in life.
Confession: I was born to serve a purpose.
