Wednesday, 30th August 2017: Your effectiveness in what you do depends on the skills you have!

Scripture Reading: Gen 14:14
And when Abram heard that his brother was taken captive, he armed his trained servants, born in his own house, three hundred and eighteen, and pursued them unto Dan

Reflections: The news of Lot’s capture in Sodom and Gomorra reached Abram. Abram knew he had to rescue his nephew immediately. The task at hand was great. A united army of four different nations had to be defeated in battle in order for Lot to be rescued. How was this going to be possible? Abram however won the war with three hundred and eighteen servants of his household. What? Household servants winning a war? Yes, they did! The secret was that they had been trained in the art of warfare and hence possessed the requisite military skills. Without skill, we can’t function effectively in our fields of endeavors. Skill is simply the knowhow of a job. It comes by training. With it, you will be effective in dealing with assigned tasks. Simply put, your effectiveness in what you do depends on the skills you have. God expects you to start improving your skills now!

Prayer: Lord, help me to improve my skills from time to time.

Confession:  I improve on my skill set from time to time. I am effective in whatever I do.
