Scripture Reading: Gen 31:13
I am the God of Bethel, where thou anointed the pillar, and where thou vowed a vow unto me: now arise, get thee out from this land, and return unto the land of thy kindred
Reflections: Jacob had been through many ordeals at the hands of his father in law. Ten times, he had been denied his real wages and cheated in the process. He was also deceived into marrying the wrong person and served another seven years to secure the woman she truly loved. Despite all these, he noticed that he had been kept alive and still made prosperous. He discovered this resulted from the vow he made to God years back (Gen 28:20). He gained this understanding when God visited him and referred to this whole past incident. Like Jacob, your vows may not stop you from facing trials in life but is certain to aid you to make a headway when you least expect. Eventually you will be kept alive and made prosperous!
Prayer: Dear Lord, I thank you that you are always faithful to respond to the vows I make and honor in faith.
Confession: God responds to the vows I make and honor in faith.
