Wednesday, 29th July 2020: Take time to reflect!

Scripture Reading: Luke 15:17
And when he came to himself, he said, How many hired servants of my father’s have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger!
Reflections: Life turned out to be what he never expected. He had left home with so much money (after he forced his father to give him his inheritance) but now he was in need. So great was the need that he now worked in a pigsty. He would have even been glad to eat the pigs’ food. Eventually he made it back home where he apologized to his father and got reinstated to his former glorious status. What made this possible was his ability to ‘come to himself’ at a point in time during the difficult times. To ‘come to yourself’ implies taking sober reflection over the events of life, agreeing with yourself over areas where you have made mistakes and coming up with an affirmative decision to address it. It is critical to soberly reflect on how you live your life from time to time so that you will be enabled to take new decisions that will keep you out of reproach.
Prayer: Dear Lord, help me to soberly reflect on my life from time to time so I can take the right actions to remain aligned to your divine will.
Confession:  I soberly reflect on my life from time to time. I am enabled to take the right actions in life.
