Scripture Reading: Act 18:15-16
But if it be a question of words and names, and of your law, look ye to it; for I will be no judge of such matters. And he drave them from the judgment seat
Reflections: Paul lived in Corinth for a year and a half teaching them the word of God. Suddenly the Jews took a swipe at him and his ministry and subpoenaed him to the law court of Gallio, the proconsul of Achaia. They sort to place an injunction on his ministry. All was set for the proceedings at the court to begin. Judge Gallio called out the case. The Jews accused Paul of teaching people to worship God outside what they believed. They knew they were going to win the case. Before Paul could respond to the accusations, Gallio dismissed the case as foolish. He didn’t need Paul to talk at all. He humiliated Paul’s enemies further by driving them out of the court. Like Paul, God will disappoint your enemies and get them humiliated.
Prayer: Oh Lord, disappoint those who accuse me falsely and get them humiliated!
Confession: God is my defense! He disappoints and humiliates those who accuse me falsely.
