Scripture Reading: Deuteronomy 7:9
Know therefore that the LORD thy God, he is God, the faithful God, which keepeth covenant and mercy with them that love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations;
Reflections: Moses’ ministry had come to an end. As part of his farewell message to the people, he gets them focused on another name of God, ‘El-HaNe’eman’, which is the Hebrew word for ‘ The Faithful God. The Hebrew word ‘aman’, translated as faithfulness, first points to something permanent. It denotes the permanent, unchanging nature of God (James 1:17) that cannot make him lie or alter his word (Number 23:18). So Moses meant to get his people to understand that as long as they remember that God cannot break his promise to get them to Canaan due to his unchanging dependable character, they were sure to keep up any fight until they see the manifestation of the prophetic word. Your greatest motivation to hold on until the realisation of your prophetic word is the investment of your faith in the God you know as the one who cannot lie or alter his word. El-HaNe’eman. The Faithful God is your God!
Prayer: Dear Lord, I believe you as El-HaNe’eman – The Faithful God. Let me see your faithfulness.
Confession: God is the faithful God!
