Scripture Reading: Psalm 124:6-8
Blessed be the LORD, who hath not given us as a prey to their teeth. Our soul is escaped as a bird out of the snare of the fowlers: the snare is broken, and we are escaped. Our help is in the name of the LORD, who made heaven and earth.
Reflections: A bird that has been captured by a fowler (a professional bird hunter) is unable to escape. Yet, a powerful individual passing by can assist the bird by disassembling the trap. With this action, the bird will be set free and fly away. By this comparison, David teaches us the irresistible role of divine intervention amid seemingly insurmountable obstacles. When God intervenes, our opponents’ efforts to limit and oppose us will be foiled, and our freedom will be secured. God is the invincible trap breaker. He is our help!
Prayer: Oh Lord, let the snares in my life be broken so that I can escape from the hands of my enemies.
Confession: The snare is broken, and I have escaped as a bird from the snare of the fowler.
