Wednesday, 1st November 2023: Everyone needs to hear the gospel, even those who dislike us!

Scripture Reading: Luke 14:1 And it came to pass, as he went into the house of one of the chief Pharisees to eat bread on the sabbath day, that they watched him

The Pharisees were a religious group during the time of Jesus Christ. They didn’t like Jesus because he often criticized them for their hypocritical behaviour. Despite this tension, Jesus accepted an invitation to dine with one of them. He discerned that this would be a great opportunity for ministry. Upon his arrival, Jesus used the occasion to heal a sick person and began preaching to the group. He followed this up with a series of parables to teach them about the principles of the kingdom of God. By his encounter with the Pharisees, we can deduce that Jesus didn’t just preach to those who liked him – he also preached to those who disliked him. As followers of Christ, we should also seize opportunities to reach out to those who oppose us. Everyone needs to hear the gospel, even those who dislike us!
Prayer: Dear Lord, please help me reach out to the lost soul including those who dislike me.
Confession: I preach the gospel to all, including those who dislike me.
