Wednesday, 1st November 2017: You must be a special place for God to dwell and to rule!

Scripture Reading: Psalm 114: 1-3
When Israel went out of Egypt, the house of Jacob from a people of strange language; Judah was his sanctuary, and Israel his dominion. The sea saw it, and fled: Jordan was driven back.

Reflections: The journey of the people of Israel from Egypt to Canaan was marked with a lot of unusual things happening. The psalmist captures events such as the parting of the Red Sea and the Jordan into two to show how irresistible the people of Israel were. His narration leads us to discover what actually positioned them as irresistible. They were God’s sanctuary and dominion. Sanctuary refers to a place dedicated and hallowed while Dominion speaks of the sovereignty of a ruler. This implies that when you choose to make your life a special place for God to dwell (sanctuary) and to rule (dominion), you become irresistible and unstoppable. He fights your battles, removes barriers and limitations and overturns decrees in your favor. Why don’t you position yourself to become God’s sanctuary and dominion? The Apostle Paul rightly admonishes us to do so in his words ‘we are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit’-Ephesians 2:22.

Prayer: Dear Lord, take my life and make it your dwelling place and dominion.

Confession: My life does not belong to me. It is God’s dwelling place and a place of his rule. I am irresistible in life.
