Scripture Reading: John 14:16&18
And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.
Reflection: The news of Jesus’ departure from the earth sounded quite unpleasant to the disciples. Were they going to be left stranded? Knowing their thoughts, Jesus emphatically told them they will not be comfortless. The Holy Spirit was going to become their comforter. The word comforter far exceeds what we understand it to be. From its Greek rendition ‘parakletos’, comforter speaks of someone who summons himself to be by the side of another to offer any help the person might need. Thus the disciples were never going to be left stranded. Help was going to come unabatedly from the Holy Spirit. As a disciple of Christ, you will not be left stranded too. You will have every help you need from the Holy Spirit who has summoned Himself to be by your side. See Him move into action in your life.
Prayer: Dear Holy Spirit, I thank you that I will not be stranded in life. You are my Comforter. I call forth for your help for my daily living.
Confession: I am not comfortless. I am not helpless. The Holy Spirit is my Comforter. He is my Helper. I see every need in my life met. God is glorified!.
