Wednesday, 19th July 2023: The plans of your conspirators and accusers will backfire!

Scripture Reading: Acts 23:16 And when Paul’s sister’s son heard of their lying-in wait, he went and entered into the castle, and told Paul.

Reflections: Paul, under arrest, was kept in the custody of the chief captain of Jerusalem. As his trial preparation proceeded, a band of over forty Jewish men conspired under oath to kill him. They discussed their hatched plan with the high priest and council elders, to which the high council consented. In the plan, the high council would request the chief captain bring Paul back to the council for further questioning. The conspirators will then hide by the road and assassinate Paul when he is brought to the council. The plan seemed promising, but little did they know that Paul’s nephew had overheard their conversation and shared the information with Paul and the chief captain. Before the conspirators could act, the chief captain whisked Paul away to another province at dawn. People can conspire against you, plotting either your downfall or even death. However, God has a way of foiling their plans, just as He did by using Paul’s nephew in his case. In the end, the schemes of your conspirators and accusers will backfire.
Prayer: Oh, Lord, let my conspirators and accusers fail with their plans.
Confession: The plans of my conspirators and accusers will always backfire.
