His desire for posterity reveals his unselfish character, reminding us that our decisions today should aim at positively impacting future generations. God’s response to Abram extended far beyond what he imagined—countless descendants like the stars. Abram’s faith in this promise, even when he saw no evidence, was credited to him as righteousness. Like Abram, we should allow thoughts of posterity to shape our desires and actions, trusting in God’s long-term plans.
