Wednesday, 18th May 2022: Help others!

Scripture Reading: Esther 2:7
And he brought up Hadassah, that is, Esther, his uncle’s daughter: for she had neither father nor mother, and the maid was fair and beautiful; whom Mordecai, when her father and mother were dead, took for his daughter.

Reflections: Esther is a Jewish enslaved person who rose to become a powerful and famous queen of the Medo-Persian empire. She enjoyed exceptional favour from the Lord and is noted to have saved the entire Jewish race from being exterminated in exile. Her rise to fame and glory cannot be discussed without tracing her background. She was an orphan who had been picked up and catered for by her uncle, Mordecai. Without him, Esther could never have risen to prominence. The opportunity to access the position of a queen was even identified by Mordecai, who helped Esther all the way through till her ascension. Clearly, without Mordecai, there would never have been an Esther. Like Mordecai, you need to rise up to selflessly seek the welfare of others. One day, you will be glad to see the fruit of your labor! You will come to realize how fulfilling it is to allow God to use you to build lives. Be a life builder! Learn to help others!

Prayer: Dear Lord, please make me a Mordecai to an Esther!

Confession: I build lives.
