Scripture Reading: Genesis 49: 22-24
Joseph is a fruitful bough, even a fruitful bough by a well; whose branches run over the wall:The archers have sorely grieved him, and shot at him, and hated him: But his bow abode in strength, and the arms of his hands were made strong by the hands of the mighty God of Jacob; (from thence is the shepherd, the stone of Israel.
Reflections: JACOB gathered his sons and began to prophesy about their future. When it got to the turn of Joseph, he first recounted the story of the ordeals he (Joseph) went through. He termed the ordeals as arrows shot at Joseph by archers which although wounded and threatened his life and destiny, failed to prevail. He established this failure to the instrumentality of the support of an unfailing and unconquerable STRENGTH that was present in Joseph’s life. By his narration, Jacob sought to establish that as long as one remains walking in covenant with God, the Strength of the covenant-keeping God, which is superior to any other power, will come to the aid of that needy covenant-keeping child, and strengthen and propel them to their destined heights. In other words, the arrows, when shot, provide the opportunity for God to show up His matchless strength. Like Joseph, God will be an unfailing and unconquerable STRENGTH by your side. Every arrow shot at you by your enemies will therefore, provide the opportunity for Him to show up this matchless strength in your life.
Prayer: Dear Lord, I thank you that every arrow shot at me presents an opportunity for you to demonstrate your unfailing and unconquerable strength.
Confession: God is an unfailing and unconquerable STRENGTH by my side.
