Scripture Reading: Gen 41: 39-40
And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, Forasmuch as God hath shewed thee all this, there is none so discreet and wise as thou art: Thou shalt be over my house, and according unto thy word shall all my people be ruled: only in the throne will I be greater than thou. And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, See, I have set thee over all the land of Egypt.
Reflection: Pharaoh needed his dream to be interpreted. No one was able to do so until he was told about Joseph. He sent for him and asked him to interpret his dream. Enabled by his spiritual gift, Joseph performed this assigned task to the admiration of all. According to his interpretation, famine was about to hit the land. He however did not end his discourse at this point. He moved a step further to outline the strategy needed to avert the impending famine. The king never asked for this strategy but Joseph nonetheless went ahead to add this value to his initial work of interpretation. This no doubt positioned him to be so favored by the King that he was appointed to the high office of Prime Minister of the land. Pharaoh did not only acknowledge his gift of interpretation but also called him a discreet and wise person in recognition of the strategy he outlined. What if Joseph had just interpreted the dream without outlining the solution to the problem he had identified? Certainly, it pays to add value to whatever you are asked to do in life. Don’t be satisfied with just merely doing what you are asked to do. Seek to add more value to the execution of your given task. It will make you ‘stand tall’ among many. It will always make you the preferred choice for promotion in life. It is the way to excellence!
Prayer: Dear Lord, please help me to add value to the execution of my given tasks in life.
Confession. I don’t do things in the ordinary way. I go beyond. I add more value to the execution of task that I am assigned to. I walk in excellence. I will always be the preferred choice for promotion in life.
