Scripture Reading: Ephesians 4:11-12
And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:
Reflections: Paul shows us why God has given the church different types of servants of God with different gifts to preach and minister His Word. It is all to ensure that we get perfected. Perfection is to ‘make (something) completely free from faults or defects’. It speaks of improvement and refinement. The Word of God to get us perfected, can be preached alright but if we fail to yield to it, we can never be perfected as expected. We are thus required to involve ourselves in the daily actions of improving and refining our christian lives on the basis of God’s Word preached to us until we become faultless! It is clear then that we also have a role to play if we will ever get perfected. It is not just about preachers preaching.
Prayer: Dear Lord, please give me grace to pursue perfection in life by becoming a doer of the WORD.
Confession: I pursue perfection in life. I get rid of faults and defects in my life and keep improving my lifestyle on the basis of the Word of God.
