Scripture Reading: Acts 8:4-6. Therefore they that were scattered abroad went every where preaching the word.
Then Philip went down to the city of Samaria, and preached Christ unto them. And the people with one accord gave heed unto those things which Philip spake, hearing and seeing the miracles which he did.
Reflections: The church encountered great persecution in Jerusalem. This scattered its people to locations far and near. Only the Apostles were left in Jerusalem. Something significant however, happened as the people migrated to other places. They kept preaching salvation messages wherever they found themselves. They knew the preaching of the Gospel was not only to be done by the Apostles (their pastors). It was their job as well. The hardships of the hour could not therefore stop them. One of them was Philip. He singlehandedly upon arriving in Samaria preached to the whole city. He watched as the people gladly gave their lives to Christ through his efforts. Like the others, he had made the preaching of the gospel his business. Together they were giving a voice to the Gospel wherever they went. The Gospel thus remains voiceless until you give it a voice. Like the disciples of old, you are also a voice of the Gospel. Let your voice be heard!
Prayer: Dear Lord, I know that the Gospel remains voiceless until I give it a voice. Help me to voice out the message of salvation to people I come into contact with.
Confession: I am the voice of the Gospel. I preach salvation to the lost wherever I find myself.
