Scripture Reading: 1 Chronicles 22:9
Behold, a son shall be born to thee, who shall be a man of rest; and I will give him rest from all his enemies round about: for his name shall be Solomon, and I will give peace and quietness unto Israel in his days.
Reflections: David was a man of war. His life was surrounded by enemies whom he had to contend with all the time to ensure that Israel would encounter peace. One day, God speaks to him about a coming period in Israel where a divine order will restrain the enemies of Israel. The land will therefore encounter peace and quietness which will make way for the building of the temple. This new season was going to take place during the reign of his son Solomon. God said he will make Solomon a man of rest. When we consider that both men ( David and Solomon) ascended the same throne but with David as a man of war and Solomon taking over as a man of rest, we can deduce a divine principle worth taking note of. You may have battles to fight in this life but it will not be forever. A season of rest will take over. With this understanding, you do not give up whenever you are confronted in life with challenges. You keep fighting until rest sets in.
Prayer: Oh Lord, give me rest from my enemies!
Confession: God will give me rest from my enemies.
