Thus were both the daughters of Lot with child by their father.

Reflections: After escaping the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah, Lot and his two daughters took shelter in a cave. Worried about their family’s future, the daughters devised a plan to have children with their father, Lot, as no other men were around. They made Lot drink and took turns sleeping with him while he was drunk. Although this led to pregnancy, their actions were ethically questionable and had significant repercussions. The children they gave birth to eventually became the forefathers of the Moabites and Ammonites, who would later become formidable adversaries of Israel and impede their efforts to conquer Canaan. This story warns that using immoral means to achieve goals will have severe consequences.

Prayer: Dear Lord, help me to achieve the goals I set through the appropriate and ethical methods.
