Wednesday, 12th April 2017: Prayer can keep your enemy out of business and out of existence!

Scripture Reading: Acts 12:4-5
And when he had apprehended him, he put him in prison, and delivered him to four quaternions of soldiers to keep him; intending after Easter to bring him forth to the people. Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him.

Reflections: It was the Easter (Passover) season. They planned to kill Peter. Herod eventually had him arrested and placed on the death roll. The night before his death sentence would be carried out, he encountered divine intervention. This was as a result of intense prayers offered on his behalf by the church. An angel from heaven freed him miraculously. His absence in the prison yard the following morning got all the prison officers confused. In their confusion, they were charged by Herod to look for him and cause his rearrest. They failed miserably in this mission. This infuriated Herod so much that he ordered them to be killed at once. Herod himself later met his own untimely death when he was struck down by an angel in another event. What if the church had not prayed for Peter? Don’t underestimate the power of ceaseless and intense prayers. It will keep your enemies out of business and out of existence. Keep on praying throughout this Easter season.

Prayer: Oh Lord, as I pray, let the enemies of my life and that of my loved ones be kept out of business and out of existence! Let me celebrate this Easter in peace.

Confession. I cannot be kept out of the prayer gear. I see my enemies scatter and remain in utter confusion as I pray. Where they want us dead, I see them take our places in the grave yard. We celebrate this Easter in peace.
