Wednesday, 11th March 2020: Fasting opens the door to favor!

Scripture Esther 5:2 And it was so, when the king saw Esther the queen standing in the court, that she obtained favour in his sight: and the king held out to Esther the golden sceptre that was in his hand. So Esther drew near, and touched the top of the scepter.

Reflections: Her 3 day fast had just ended. She put on her royal dress and strolled into the inner court of the king’s house. She knew she had broken the law that forbids her to come into the presence of the King at this time and that her penalty was going to be death if her expectation failed. It was so risky but she needed to do it to save her kinsmen from being annihilated. All eyes within the king’s court were glued at her and the king . They all wandered what next. Without hesitation the king arose and to the shock of everyone pointed his scepter at her. It was a sign of favor. This was unusual and quite rare given similar circumstances that had occurred before. It was evident that the 3day fast Esther endured had cooked up this miracle of favor. Fasting is the spiritual exercise of ‘willingly abstaining from food, drink, or both, for a period of time’ as you pray and study the Bible. Like the case of Esther, fasting as led by the Spirit, can cause you to enjoy immunity from established protocols that hinders your access to what you need. Fasting opens the door to favor!

Prayer: Dear Lord, give me the grace to fast whenever I should.

Confession: Fasting is part of my spiritual development. It endears me to divine favor.
