Scripture Reading: Proverbs 21:23
Whoso keepeth his mouth and his tongue keepeth his soul from troubles.
Reflections: In ancient Hebrew, ‘tsârâh’ means ‘trouble,’ but it also conveys a sense of ‘tightness’ and constriction. Dealing with ‘tsârâh’ involves facing tough times or challenges. The Psalmist advises us to choose words carefully to avoid encountering such difficult situations. By speaking cautiously, we can prevent many troubles and protect ourselves. Just be careful about what you say and how you say it!
Prayer: Dear Lord, help me guide my lips.
Confession: I am careful about what I say and how I say it.
