Scripture Reading: Matthew 15:26-27
But he answered and said, It is not meet to take the children’s bread, and to cast it to dogs. And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters’ table.
Reflections: Jesus disregarded an initial request from a woman to cure her daughter. Furthermore, he uttered a remark that could be perceived as derogatory. As he put it, feeding dogs—a metaphor for non-Jewish people, of which the woman was a member—with the children’s bread was improper. However, the woman maintained her composure and reminded Jesus respectfully that dogs were known to consume the crumbs that fell from their masters’ tables. Astonished by the woman’s tolerance level, Jesus restored her daughter’s health. It is imperative to develop the capacity to tolerate situations or individuals in the course of one’s pursuit of life’s objectives. To demonstrate tolerance, one must be willing to accept and endure something they do not necessarily like. Adopting such a mindset will prevent you from becoming irritated at the slightest provocation, allowing you to pursue your aspirations effectively. Tolerance is indeed a critical success enabler!
Prayer: Dear Lord, give me a heart that is tolerant.
Confession: I am tolerant.
