Scripture Reading: Romans 13:8
8 Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law.
Reflection: In encouraging the church to pay every debt they owe the state in terms of taxes as and when they are due, Paul ceases the opportunity to flag a spiritually obligated debt the church should never cease to pay. He labels this as the ‘debt of love’ and concludes that the one who pays this unflinchingly and no matter what fulfills the law. By this we understand that one will walk in error if they claim that It is over with loving someone and that the person no longer deserve their love because they have been offended by the person. There is the need to keep loving all the time, no matter what. As confirmed by Paul in 1 Cor 13:7-10, Love has no limits, It never fails and It never ends. No wonder Jesus made it a key indicator of a mark of a true and genuine disciple of his ( John 13: 34 -35). Indeed love is the one debt you can never finish paying. Ask God to help you love others unconditionally all the time.
Prayer: Oh Lord, help me to love others unconditionally. Forgive me where I have failed to love unconditionally. Pour more of your love into my heart so I can also love others unconditionally.
Confession; I am loved unconditionally by God to love others unconditionally. I see unconditional love as a debt I owe others. I will always keep paying the debt of unconditional love.
