Scripture Reading:Deu 33:26
There is none like unto the God of Jeshurun, who rideth upon the heaven in thy help, and in his excellency on the sky.
Reflections:As Moses ends his final blessings on the tribes of Israel, he says, “There is no one like the God of Jeshurun. Here, Jeshurun is presented as another name for Israel. Literally, it means upright. God of Jeshurun therefore means God of the upright one. From the history of Israel, we note that they were not totally an upright nation. They were sinful and encountered series of judgments. It is interesting therefore for God to refer himself as God of Jeshurun. However there is a key message in this: God sees us as the final product that He intends to make us and He expects us to see ourselves as such. By this we are motivated to keep working towards becoming the expected final product we are called to be. Paul Brown rightly concludes the whole matter by saying that ‘by using the name Jeshurun ‘God reminds us that a crooked life can be made straight and therefore no one need remain where and what he is’. Keep changing until you get there!
Prayer: Dear Lord, I thank you for seeing me as the final product you intend me to be.
Confession: I work towards becoming the final product God intends me to be.
