Scripture Reading: Act 6:3
Wherefore, brethren, look ye out among you seven men of honest report, full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business
Reflections: In selecting and ordaining the 7 individuals to serve in the deacon leadership position, they had to meet a set criteria which included being ‘full of the Holy Spirit’. To be full of the Holy Spirit, among others, points to a person who has come under the complete influence and power of the Holy Spirit such that they act as channels to transmit the power of God into lives and situations. As led by the Spirit, such individuals are able to confront and overthrow demonic powers, heal the sick and ultimately work out other miracles, signs and wonders that proves the supremacy of God. Since these 7 individuals were selected from among the ordinary church membership level, it points to the fact that demonstrating the power of God is not a reserve of pastors but is one of the bottom line traits every child of God must experience and exhibit. God’s power will work through you as long as you allow yourself to be filled with His Spirit.
Prayer: Dear Lord, fill me with your Spirit so I can become a channel for demonstrating your power.
Confession: I am full of the Holy Spirit. God’s power works through me to affect lives and conditions around me.
