Scripture Reading: Matthew 16:16-18
And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven. And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
Reflections: Jesus conducted a ‘test’ among his disciples to find out who really they think he is. How interesting! Peter breaks the silence and gets the answer right with his words ‘ Thou art Christ’. This excites Jesus who immediately confirms that Peter ‘s answer did not emanate from human reasoning but was giving to him by God. By this we are introduced to the subject of DIVINE INSPIRATION in the life of mortals! Divine inspiration is the ability of your spirit to receive information from the Holy Spirit. Elihu’s words’ there is a spirit in man: and the inspiration of the Almighty giveth them understanding’ (Job 32:8) explains this more clearly. When your spirit comes under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, you can know what human reasoning cannot grasp and you will be better placed in life! Like Peter you can pass your given ‘tests’ in life.
Prayer: Dear Lord, please help me to yield my spirit to your Spirit so I can be inspired to gain understanding into the hidden.
Confession: My spirit is yielded to the Holy Spirit. Under His inspiration I am able to discern the hidden.
