Scripture Reading: 1 Samuel 30:8
And David enquired at the LORD, saying, Shall I pursue after this troop? Shall I overtake them? And he answered him, Pursue: for thou shalt surely overtake them, and without fail recover all.
Reflections: David suffered a significant loss. His family, relatives and properties were all gone. Raiders were responsible for this. As he prayed to God about this, we see in him a man who will not settle down to a life of defeat. God’s answer to him even validates this frame of mind. He approves of David’s quest to pursue the raiders and assures him of victory. Like David, some areas of your life may have suffered or are suffering defeat. It may be your health, finances, marriage, relationship, career, ministry etc. etc. Don’t ever accept to remain in that condition. Fight back to recover. Consider the prophetic voice of Isaiah 52:1-2 saying, ‘ Awake, awake; put on thy strength, …..Shake thyself from the dust; arise, and sit down,……loose thyself from the bands of thy neck’ and get to work. Don’t ever settle down to a life of defeat! God will show up as you fight back!
Prayer: Dear Lord, help me recover every loss in my life. Let me not settle down to a life of defeat.
Confession: I am an overcomer.
