Scripture Reading:Luke 1:80
And the child grew, and waxed strong in spirit, and was in the deserts till the day of his shewing unto Israel.
Reflections: John was directed by the Holy Spirit to live in the desert until he became a prophet. John’s experience shows that symbolically the desert isn’t all bad. He developed spiritually in the wilderness (build up his inner man and mature in character). This helped him fulfill his call. Destined children always have a “desert” phase. Joseph for instance was enslaved and imprisoned before becoming a statesman. He learned leadership, administration, and management in the “desert” as a slave and prisoner. The “desert” experience is temporary but required for maturation.
Prayer: Dear Lord I thank You that I mature through ‘desert’ experiences.
Confession: I mature by any desert experience I encounter!
