Scripture Reading: Exodus 14:19
And the angel of God, which went before the camp of Israel, removed and went behind them; and the pillar of the cloud went from before their face, and stood behind them:
Reflections: Israel was pursued by the Egyptian army in an effort to return them to a life of servitude. Nevertheless, the angelic being who had been guiding the Israelites along their expedition retreated behind the group. As a result of this motion, the cloud pillar, which had previously been positioned in front of the Israelites, retreated and stood between the Egyptians and the Israelites. With this repositioning, the cloud pillar produced darkness for the Egyptian army and light for the Israelites. The Egyptian army was therefore obstructed and kept away from getting closer to the people of Israel. By creating light for the comfort and care of His people while obscuring the paths of their adversaries, this scenario exemplifies God’s ability to protect and provide for His people.
Prayer: Oh Lord, obscure the paths of my enemies.
Confession: God will obscure the path of my enemies.
