Scripture Reading: 2Ch 32:21
And the Lord sent an angel who put to death all the men of war and the chiefs and the captains in the army of the king of Assyria. So he went back to his country in shame. And when he came into the house of his god, his sons, the offspring of his body, put him to death with the sword.
Reflections: Sennacherib, King of Assyria, felt he had a superior army to that of Israel. He, therefore, embarked on a military campaign against Israel. He intimidated Israel with verbal threats as he got ready to engage them in combat. In response, Hezekiah, King of Israel and Isaiah the prophet petitioned God for help. God replies by sending an angel to their rescue. The angel killed all the soldiers paraded by Sennacherib at once. Sennacherib was therefore left, standing amid dead bodies. It was so humiliating that he left Israel alone. Like Israel, God knows how to bring your enemies into that level of humiliation where they will leave you alone. God will humiliate every ‘Sennacherib’ in your life!
Prayer: Oh Lord, arise and bring every pride-driven enemies in my life into total humiliation.
Confession: Every ‘Sennacherib’ in my life has been brought into humiliation.
