Scripture Reading: Luke 19:44
And shall lay thee even with the ground, and thy children within thee; and they shall not leave in thee one stone upon another; because thou knewest not the time of thy visitation.
Reflection: Jesus’ ministry on earth was first and foremost meant to be a visitation to the people of Israel. He was their much awaited messiah. A visitation is a season of grace earmarked by God for liberty and blessings for his children. It occurs within time. As Jesus approached Jerusalem, it struck him that Israel had run out of time to embrace him as the messiah. They had missed their hour of visitation. He wept as he pondered over the consequences they were going to face. Evidently Israel missed their hour of visitation just because they conceived the messiah to be a political leader who will overthrow Roman dominion. They hardly ever thought that it was going to be a spiritual messiah. They depended on their own knowledge (understanding) of what the messiah was supposed to be and to do. Much as you trust God for a breakthrough in life , you must equally depend on him to lead you in his own way and not on the basis of what you think. The writer of Proverbs was right when he said ‘Trust the LORD completely, and don’t depend on your own knowledge. With every step you take, think about what he wants, and he will help you go the right way’-Prov 3:5-6 ERV. Keep thinking about what God wants with each step you take and you will definitely be led to go the right way!
Prayer: Dear Lord, I depend on you to lead me according to your ways and not on the basis of what I think.
Confession: I depend on God to lead me according to his ways and not on the basis of what I think. I will never miss the time of my visitation.
