Tuesday, 26th December 2023: God can speak to us through nature and creation!

Scripture Reading: Matthew 2:9-10
When they had heard the king, they departed; and, lo, the star, which they saw in the east, went before them, till it came and stood over where the young child was. When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceeding great joy.

Reflections: The wise men had two encounters with the star – first when they were home in the East and again when they arrived in the land of the Jews to search for the newborn King. The first time they saw the star, they understood that it was a message about the birth of the King in the land of the Jews. The second time they saw the star, it led them to the manger where the baby was, and they worshipped him. This unique experience of the wise man with the star shows us that God can communicate with us through nature and creation. It is up to us to perceive the divine message, interpret it, and respond positively. We can hear God’s voice through nature and creation (Romans 1:20, Job 12:7-8, Numbers 22:27-34, Genesis 9:12-16)

Prayer: Oh Lord, bring me into the reality of hearing your voice through nature and creation.

Confession: God can be heard and seen through his creation.
