Scripture Reading: Genesis 26:2-3
And the LORD appeared unto him, and said, Go not down into Egypt; dwell in the land which I shall tell thee of Sojourn in this land, and I will be with thee and will bless thee;
Reflections: Isaac had made up his mind to migrate to Egypt. It was a rational thing to do because famine had struck his locality, Gerar. However, God appeared to him and asked him to withdraw his decision and that He was going to bless him if he yielded. Remaining in Gerar was, therefore, God’s plan for his life, and he needed to comply with this instruction at all cost. To further motivate him to do so, God reminded him about the obedience of his father, Abraham, to divine directives that got him established as a great man. In both Isaac’s case and Abraham’s, it is confirmed that divine blessings are provoked by obedience to the holy will. In your walk with God, obedience is therefore crucial. Obedience is compliance with an order or submission to authority. Your level of obedience will determine the extent of God’s blessings that you can ever enjoy!
Prayer: Oh Lord, help me submit to your authority and comply with every directive you have for me.
Confession: I submit to God’s authority and comply with his directives.
