Scripture Reading: Joshua 8:2
And thou shalt do to Ai and her king as thou didst unto Jericho and her king: only the spoil thereof, and the cattle thereof, shall ye take for a prey unto yourselves: lay thee an ambush for the city behind it.
Reflections: ‘Lay thee an ambush for the city’, Joshua heard God clearly say concerning the way to win the war against the people of Ai. An ambush is a ‘surprise attack by people lying in a concealed position’. Basically this is a strategy. For God to instruct Joshua to map out an ambush strategy in order to win a battle, means that the need for His children to understand that the success of any endeavor in life will require a strategy formulation and execution plan, is critical. While strategy formulation deals with choosing the most appropriate course of action to achieve a desired goal, strategy execution speaks of what you do to actually get your strategy done. The path to success in life can therefore not be accessed without a strategy. Doing things by heart must be avoided at all cost. Like Joshua, you can receive divine inspiration to formulate and execute effective strategies to achieve your desired goals in life.
Prayer: Oh Lord, help me to operate with divinely inspired strategies in this life.
Confession: I don’t do things by heart. I plan before I execute. I involve myself in strategy formulation and execution. I achieve the best results in life.
