Scripture Reading: Matthew 8:9
For I am a man under authority, having soldiers under me: and I say to this man, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it.
Reflection: Even though the centurion came to Jesus to seek for healing for his dying servant, his dialogue on submission to authority highlights an important principle in life that no one should ignore. In his lecture, he described himself as a man under authority who also had others under his authority. By this he sought to lay emphasis on the fact those under authority are meant to be submissive and to yield to directives given by their superiors. Such people are noted to be dutiful, respectful, responsible and dependable. They are the ones who are easily identified for preferential treatments in life when it so requires. Thus submissiveness to authority has power to open doors of favor and promotion in your life! Keep doing what you are required to do under authority in line with the will of God. God will certainly use it to grant you an open door! Let the voice of Paul to Timothy with the message ‘ remind believers to submit to rulers and authorities, to be obedient, and to be ready to do any honorable kind of work’ (Titus 3:1) guide you.
Prayer: Oh Lord, let my submissiveness to authority open unto me doors of upliftment in my life.
Confession: I am under authority. I remain submissive in line with the will of God. I am favored and promoted in life.
