Scripture Reading: Philippians 4:7
And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus
Reflections: Man’s capacity for emotion, judgment, and decision-making is located in the mind. Fear and anxiety, for example, can sometimes have such a negative impact on our emotions that it tends to throw off our mental equilibrium. Negative effects could include losing our ability to sleep, being angered too easily, and acting improperly. The peace of God is the antidote to this state. Paul tells us that the peace of God ‘keeps our hearts and minds’ and that it “surpasses all understanding.” While the term “surpass all understanding” denotes a superior capacity to calm an agitated mind, the phrase “keeps our hearts and minds” denotes the capacity to watch over or shield the mind. Thus, the peace of God restores a troubled mind to normalcy and further protects the mind from pressures. God’s peace is what maintains your mental equilibrium and safety! Anytime your mind is upset, use prayer to activate it in your life.
Prayer: Dear Lord, I thank you for your peace which protects the balance of my mind
Confession: I have the peace of God.
