Tuesday, 22nd February 2022: Allow God to vindicate you!

Scripture Reading: Mat 27:13-14
Then said Pilate unto him, Hearest thou not how many things they witness against thee?
And he answered him to never a word; insomuch that the governor marvelled greatly

Reflections: Pilate could not believe his ears. The number and nature of accusations levelled against Jesus Christ by the religious leaders were so much and even contradictory. He knew it was important for Jesus to respond to the issues and expected him to do so. Yet Jesus declined and never uttered a word. He was just silent. Stunned by his action, Pilate tried to instigate him to speak by pointing him to the need to do so. Again, this did not move Jesus. He still remained silent. Pilate marvelled greatly. The action of Jesus marked a sharp contrast to the norm. Rather than defend himself, He chose to wait for God to do so. He knew God will do this by raising him from death on the third day. It is always better for God to defend you than to take matters into your own hands. Like Jesus, learn to keep quiet and always wait for your ‘third day’ when God will vindicate and elevate you!

Prayer: Dear Lord, please help me to remain silent whenever I have to.

Confession: God is my defence!
