Tuesday, 22nd August 2017: The Judge is coming!

Scripture Reading: Psa 75:7-8
But God is the judge: he putteth down one, and setteth up another. For in the hand of the LORD there is a cup, and the wine is red; it is full of mixture; and he poureth out of the same: but the dregs thereof, all the wicked of the earth shall wring them out, and drink them.

Reflections: Most people hardly think about God as a Judge in matters of judging sin and punishing the sinful. They love to see Him only as someone who loves and blesses all the time. But this is only a one sided nature of Him. The Psalmist confirms God as a judge who has a cup filled with judgment for the wicked. This implies that God is a judge who legislates, sentences, and punishes sin and the sinful. Knowledge of this serves as a caution to help us stay in tune with Biblical standards for living. As His children delivered from sin, Paul reminds us that “no longer should we live the rest of our time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God’ because God will one day come and judge both the ‘quick (living) and the dead’- 1 Peter4:1-5. By this we know that God the Judge is coming! Never loose consciousness of it. The Judge is coming!

Prayer:    Dear Lord, may I never loose the consciousness that you judge sin and the sinful.

Confession:  God judges sin and the sinful. As His child, I stay out of sin and abide by biblical standards of living. I know that God as the Judge is coming!
