Scripture Reading: Hebrews 12:2
Looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God
Reflections: Jesus had a mission to complete. He had to reconcile mankind with God. This would not be a simple task. He had to bear the agony of the cross and triumph over its dishonor. He accomplished this by focusing on the ‘joy that was laid before him’ rather than the difficulties he was experiencing. This establishes a person’s ability to focus on what is right as a key factor in achieving their goals. In the course of one’s life, what one focuses on has the capacity to either destroy or empower them. Like Jesus, let your focus be driven by what you seek to achieve in any given assignment.
Prayer: Dear Lord, help me to focus aright
Confession: I focus on what empowers me to achieve my goals in life.
