Scripture Reading: Mark 10:7-8
For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and cleave to his wife; And they twain shall be one flesh: so then they are no more twain, but one flesh.
Reflections: Jesus, responding to a question about divorce, highlighted the fundamental nature of marriage. He emphasized the divine design of male and female complementarity, stating that a man and woman become “one flesh” (Matthew 19:4-6). This union originates in the creation account, where Eve was formed from Adam’s rib, making them originally “one flesh” (Genesis 1:27; 2:21-25). God established marriage to spiritually reunite them, restoring their original unity and enabling them to fulfill His purposes. Therefore, the “one flesh” union is uniquely realized in marriage only between a man and a woman.
Prayer: Dear Lord, help me uphold your design for heterosexual marriages.
Confession: I uphold God’s design for marriage between the opposite sex
