Scripture Reading: Judges 11:3
Then Jephthah fled from his brethren and dwelt in the land of Tob: and there were gathered vain men to Jephthah and went out with him. (KJV)
Reflections: Jephthah, after being rejected by his brothers, faced a number of choices including retreat into isolation or embrace community. Rather than living in isolation and bitterness, he chose to surround himself with people, even those viewed as outcasts. This decision highlights the value of connection over isolation, especially in difficult moments. We all encounter crossroads like Jephthah’s, where we can shut ourselves off or open up to others. His choice to build relationships prepared him for greater leadership. Likewise, God often uses community to sharpen and strengthen us. As Proverbs 27:17 says, “As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.” Community helps refine us and is vital for personal and spiritual growth.
Prayer: Lord, help me to embrace those around me and build strong, meaningful relationships that honor You.
Confession: I choose connection over isolation and trust that God will use my relationships to help me grow and fulfill His purpose for my life.
