Scripture Reading: 1Kings 3:12 Behold, I have done according to thy words: lo, I have given thee a wise and an understanding heart; so that there was none like thee before thee, neither after thee shall any arise like unto thee
Reflections: Solomon was crowned as King at a time that he least expected. Amid compelling circumstances, his father, David, had to step down from the throne to allow him this glorious opportunity. Solomon, however, had a concern that was a great source of worry to his father too. This had to do with his inexperience and youthfulness (1kings 3:7 & 1Chron 22:5; 29:1). This issue was, however, fixed by God when He extended to Solomon the unique gift of a wise and understanding heart. While wisdom generally gives you an urge to act out the proper judgment (choices), understanding influences your thinking process to endure you get your decision right before making any judgment. The ability of the mind aided supernaturally to think and act so that the choices and judgments you make become productive are the remits of wisdom and understanding. Like Solomon, wisdom and understanding is what you need to compensate for any inexperience on your life’s CV! It will make you gain more laurels than people with experience.
Prayer: Oh Lord, give me a wise and understanding heart
