Scripture Reading: 2Kings 4:27
And when she came to the man of God to the hill, she caught him by the feet: but Gehazi came near to thrust her away. And the man of God said, Let her alone; for her soul is vexed within her: and the LORD hath hid it from me, and hath not told me.
Reflections: Prophet Elisha was noted to possess such sterling revelatory gifts. However on this particular day he had no idea that the woman from Shunem will pay her a visit. When he saw her coming from a distance, he got alarmed. When the woman drew closer, she threw herself on the ground and grabbed his feet. Much as he could tell the woman was pining within, he had no idea what it was all about. When Gehazi, his servant tried to push her away, he restrained him. In his bewilderment, he openly confessed that God had hidden what was troubling the woman from him. Probably, both Gehazi and the woman might have been surprised to hear Elisha make such a submission. If they ever had the impression that prophets were all knowing all the time, that believe was definitely corrected that day. It is entirely wrong for anyone to think that the revelatory gift possessed by servants of God positions then to know it all and see it all. This is the truth that can help you walk away from error or come under manipulation. Respect servants of God but let your faith be anchored only in God who alone knows it all and sees it all.
Prayer: Dear Lord, help me not to allow any servant of yours to take your place in my life. You remain the only God who sees it all and knows it all!
Confession: I cannot be manipulated by any servant of God to make me believe that they know it all and see it all.
